01

A different origin. A real diamond.

Lab-grown diamonds are crystalline carbon, with essentially the same chemical composition, physical properties and optical properties as natural diamonds. Their distinction begins with how they grow: in a controlled environment rather than deep within the earth.

02

Science, brought to light.

Two established methods grow diamonds. High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) uses intense heat and pressure. Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) builds diamond from carbon-containing gas. Neither method alone tells you how beautiful a finished stone will be.

03

Look beyond the carat.

Carat describes weight, not face-up size. Cut and proportions influence the way a diamond handles light; colour and clarity describe other aspects of its appearance. Compare stones in different lighting and consider their shape, dimensions and how they look to you.

04

Choose with understanding.

Ask to see the laboratory report for the individual diamond, including its stated origin and any disclosed treatments. Moissanite and cubic zirconia are diamond simulants, not lab-grown diamonds. Specialist testing can distinguish laboratory-grown diamonds from natural ones.
